    Introduction to RFID

RFID is an acronym for "Radio-Frequency Identification". Its primary use is similar to barcodes. RFID can be used to track almost anything, from storing a companion animal’s medical history, to where a single item is in a huge warehouse, to a customer’s credit card information, to a product’s expiration date, to tracking quality control issues throughout the many manufacturing steps for a single product, to controlling access to restricted areas, to asset tracking. RFID has a couple of significant advantages over barcoding. The first one is that while barcodes must be physically aligned with an optical scanner, a RFID tag can be read outside the line-of-sight. The other main advantage is that a RFID tag can store, and thus transmit, much more data than can be placed on a barcode label. Also, a RFID tag is not susceptible to the damages that may be incurred by barcode labels, like ripping and smearing. But it is susceptible to problems such as loss of power or being crushed.

    Open Source ERP

What is Open Source ERP? Open source software is software that allows the people who purchase it to change the software’s code. “Open source” refers to the fact that the source code is not encrypted or hidden from the customer. It might seem like a no-brainer to choose software that is open source over software that is not modifiable, but despite the obvious advantages, a few disadvantages of this model stop many businesses from purchasing it.

    Advanced Planning Systems Benefits

Advanced planning systems (APS) sometimes known as Manufacturing Scheduling or Planning and Scheduling Software are software systems specifically designed for integration with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and MRP (Material Resource Planning) systems. They are used to improve the short term production planning and schedule. Many APS systems are useful at plant and enterprise level.

    Thin Client ERP Systems

While the term may sound odd, thin client technology has a great deal of benefits that clients can potentially gain from utilizing a system. Generally thin client ERP systems support a multitude of items ranging from manufacturing, inventory, shipping, distribution, logistics, invoicing and accounting. Additionally many different areas such as sales, production, scheduling, delivery, billing, quality management and human resources can benefit from this system.

    Green Business is Good Business

Today companies are becoming more environmentally aware and going green is turning into a corporate strategy. Companies are searching to find solutions to conserve energy, manage waste and reduce carbon intensity. Solar energy, hybrid cars and organic produce has made a positive impact.

Implementing the Right ERP System for your Organization

Implementing a new ERP system can be beneficial in many ways such as better organization, faster production, accuracy and much more. With software that can improve an organization in so many ways the organization in turn becomes more profitable. Choosing the right ERP system can give your business a durable competitive advantage.

    Customer Service for your Business

Maintaining a successful business starts with having excellent customer service. Organizations that provide great customer service tend to have an overall better ROI (return on investment) than their competitors. Although, the staff providing the service is very important the software that provides the information can be the key factor. Choosing the customer service module is a great choice and has a very beneficial impact on all businesses.

Integrate Cost Accounting Software and Your ERP

There are a lot of vendors who offer Cost Accounting software and a large percentage of them cannot connect this data to your ERP (enterprise resource planning) system. In turn you are forced to compile data and enter it multiple times into both systems, wasting both time and valuable resources. If you are looking for a system which can be seamlessly integrated while reaching multiple locations you are not alone. Most manufactures in today’s economy are running as lean as possible and cannot afford to purchase a standalone system where they must manually enter data multiple times.

    Manufacturing ERP Software Comparison

Starting the research of your manufacturing ERP software system can be confusing and time consuming. First organizations need to define the functionality they would like in the software and focus their search on this software. Finding a basic reporting system that allows you better visibility into your processes will in the end have a very large increase in the ROI.

    Six Sigma Software

Six sigma is about systematically improving the quality of process outputs. It accomplishes this goal by identifying and removing the causes of defects and minimizing variability in manufacturing and business processes.
